I Am Doin' This!

My family knows that I would love to be crafty. You know those blogs that have do it youself projects. You can find just about anything, cloths, home deco, cooking, everything. So clever. I am all about it. We know that we are about more than just hair, right? So this page is dedicated to things I'm doing, my little projects that I want to try out:

This is my most recent project:

My brand new chalkboard! I. LOVE. IT
I took a picture that just didn't fit in with the decor in my apartment anymore. But the frame is SO cool and ornate.( And, very heavy I might add.)
I decided to turn it into a chalkboard. I'd always wanted to try it. My workmate, Jaclyn heard me mention it, ran home and got the spray can of chalkboard paint that she had just used. Thanks Jaclyn! You can also get a can and brush. Which ever you like best.
I didn't paint over the painting, I just flipped it over and painted over the back of the painting. You could use even the glass from an old picture frame, whatever solid surface you want to cover up.The directions are pretty simple: Clean, dry and smooth surface. Start painting.
For the spray paint, you should wait about 20 minutes between layers. Also, I did about 4 or 5 layer, just because I figured it would cover better. I let the surface dry overnight outside. The next morning I prepped it by laying a piece of chalk sideways and covering the whole surface. Then wiping it clean. That's it! It is now hanging in my dining room.
I love writing little notes to my husband, menus, honey do's....whatever. It is kinda big, lol! So, i get the whole school board vibe when I'm writing on it.
I tend to go crazy for things, so I looked up how to make colored chalk boards. Yes, you  could buy it. But, I still really wanna be crafty so...here's the link;)
